  • Warm milk – 3/4 cup
  • Sugar – 3 tbsp
  • Instant yeast – 1 tsp
  • All-purpose flour – 2 cups
  • Salt -1/2 tsp
  • Unsalted butter – 2 tbsp

Steps for soft doughnuts

  1. Combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Whisk well.
  2. Then, add flour and salt. Knead until all flour is absorbed into the dough.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rest for 20 minutes.
  4. Add softened butter. Knead until smooth.
  5. Cover and let it rest for one hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Divide into 10-12 equal pieces and shape each piece into a neat ball.
  7. Make a hole in the middle of each dough ball using your index finger. Then, widen the holes to about 2 inches wide. You can use your two index fingers to do this by rotating the dough around your fingers.
  8. Cover the doughnuts and let them rest for 40 minutes.
  9. Fry the doughnuts on medium-low heat until well browned on both sides.
  10. To coat with sugar (optional), place sugar in a wide bowl or plate and rub each doughnut on the sugar while it is hot.
  11. Allow to cool down. Serve and enjoy!
